How does this private service differ from NHS Pharmacy First?

NHS Pharmacy First covers seven specific conditions for eligible patient demographics with standard NHS medication. Our extended private clinic covers a much wider range of conditions and provides advanced prescription therapies (such as Dymista spray for severe allergies, Treclin gel for acne, Otomize spray for swimmer ear, Scheriproct for haemorrhoids, and Tamiflu for influenza) that are not covered under NHS Pharmacy First.

Why is Dymista better than standard hayfever nasal sprays?

Dymista combines two potent active ingredients: a rapid-acting antihistamine (azelastine) that relieves sneezing and itching within 15 minutes, and a powerful corticosteroid (fluticasone) that reduces nasal congestion and eye inflammation throughout the day.

What acne treatments can the pharmacist prescribe?

We provide Treclin gel (combining the topical antibiotic clindamycin with the cell-renewing retinoid tretinoin) for moderate inflammatory acne, and Azelaic Acid (20% cream / 15% gel) which unclogs pores, kills acne bacteria, and reduces skin redness and hyperpigmentation.

Can you treat swimmer ear and severe ear pain?

Yes. We inspect your ear canal and can supply Otomize ear spray (containing neomycin antibiotic, dexamethasone steroid, and acetic acid) for otitis externa, as well as Otigo analgesic ear drops for soothing acute earache.

What is Tamiflu and when must it be started?

Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is an antiviral medicine that attacks the influenza virus, reducing fever, muscle aches, and the duration and severity of flu. To be effective, it should ideally be started within 48 hours of your first flu symptoms appearing.
