What we do

Everything we can help with, here on the high street

Some of what we do is free on the NHS. Where the NHS offers a service free, its page says so before our prices.

Free on the NHS

No charge if you are eligible.

Private clinics

Paid services after a one-to-one consultation. Every page lists our prices.

How a visit works

01

Tell us what is wrong

Say a few words at the counter. If it is something we can help with, we will take you through to the pharmacist.

02

Sit down with the pharmacist

You talk in the consultation room with the door closed. The pharmacist asks about your health and takes a look if that helps.

03

Leave knowing what to do

That might be treatment to take home, advice that costs nothing, or the name of the service that can help you faster.

04

Come back any time

If it gets worse, or nothing changes, come in again or ring us. Asking twice costs nothing either.

Questions we answer every day

Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in during opening hours and ask for the pharmacist. Busy periods are late morning and just after 5pm.
How do I order a repeat prescription?
Order it through the NHS App or your GP surgery and nominate us as your pharmacy. Your GP sends it to us electronically and we prepare it.
Can you deliver my medicines?
We deliver locally. Call us to arrange it and tell us if someone needs to be home to receive it.
What does a Pharmacy First consultation cost?
The consultation is free. Any medicine supplied is charged at the standard prescription rate, and it is free if you are exempt.
Is there somewhere private to talk?
Yes. Consultations happen in a closed consultation room, and you can ask for it at any time, including at the counter.
What if you are closed?
Call 111 for urgent advice, or 999 in an emergency. NHS 111 online also lists pharmacies open near you right now.

Treated here, without a GP appointment

Pharmacy First lets a pharmacist assess and, where appropriate, treat seven conditions. Treatment is free if you do not pay for prescriptions.

Pharmacists follow the national criteria for each condition. If your symptoms fall outside them, we will tell you and point you to the right service.
